ROCK LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Board Meeting Minutes, May 16, 2007
Lake Mills Municipal Building, 7 p.m.
Present: President Karl Vonderohe, Russ Wagner, Jim Colegrove, Ron
Niedfeldt, Stan Smoniewski, Milt Strauss, Tom Pezzi, Margaret Krueger,
and Patricia Cicero.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the April 18,
2007, meeting were reviewed and approved.
Treasurers Report: Jim reported the following
account balances as of 5/15/07: Lake Management Account --$2,344.94,
RLIA checking account--$4,024.35, and RLIA savings account--$4,137.40
for a total of $10,506.69.
Committee Reports:
Publicity/PR Committee: Milt said that RLIA display at the
Lake Mills Middle School’s Environmental Awareness Day on Saturday,
April 21, received a good response. The board decided not to have a
parade float entry in this year’s Town and Country Days, but will have a
display on Friday and Saturday, June 22 and 23, in Commons Park in
conjunction with the event. Milt will set up a display coverage
schedule, and the PR Committee will meet to finalize the display.
Joint Rock Lake Committee: Stan reported the lake level is being
closely monitored. The level was raised May 1 according to Department of
Natural Resources guidelines.
Long Range Plan: Patricia said sampling plans are under way at
several sites around Rock Lake. Plans are complete for the parking lot
at Jefferson County Lower Rock Lake Park. The next step is to apply for
funds. An application for funds will be submitted to the DNR. She showed
a display at the middle school Environmental Day on the Long Range
Management Plan for Rock Lake, characteristics of Rock Lake, and goals
and recommendations.
Adopt-a-Lake: Stan said that volunteers will meet at Bartel’s
Beach on May 19 for the annual Rock Lake Cleanup and garlic mustard
pull.
Old Business: Membership Drive: A discussion
was held on complications involved in mailing the LRP executive summary
and cover letter, and also the RLIA brochure and membership envelope.
Jim and Milt will work on addresses for mailings.
Patricia will mail four homeowners packets to new shoreline owners, with
RLIA picking up the cost of the mailings. Members mentioned some of the
things they learned at the WAL convention.
Meeting adjourned at 9 p.m.

Municipal Building
