ROCK LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Board Meeting Minutes, July 18, 2007
Lake Mills Municipal Building, 7 p.m.
Present: Karl Vonderohe, Johanna Chworowsky, Ron Niedfeldt, Tom Pezzi,
Stan Smoniewski, Milt Strauss, Margaret Krueger and Patricia Cicero.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the June 20, 2007 meeting were
reviewed and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: No report – Jim Colegrove absent.
Committee Reports:
Publicity/PR Committee: Milt noted that RLIA goose count of June 25,
2007 shows an increase in geese and brought an article from the
Wisconsin Rapids paper pertaining to geese. Johanna suggested the geese
issue should be discussed at annual meeting on Aug. 25, 2007. Milt,
Johanna and Marg will write the annual newsletter to be sent prior to
annual meeting. Marg will send info about the annual meeting to three
area newspapers.
Joint Rock Lake Committee: Stan distributed new brochures produced by
the committee. Stan would like to see swales on Shorewood Hills Road to
manage weather-related run-off.
Long Range Management Plan for Rock Lake: Patricia said the town of
Lake Mills will apply for a grant for the Jefferson County parking lot
on the north end of the lake. If the grant is approved, bids will go out
in September and work will begin in fall.
Adopt-a-Lake Committee: Stan and Patricia said volunteers, students
as well as adults, should be trained before educating the public at boat
launches about clean boats and clean water.
Old Business: Annual Meeting: The annual meeting will be held August
25, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Lower Rock Lake County Park. Speakers will be
contacted, including one on Viral Hemorrhagic Syndrome. Executive
summaries of Long Range Management Plan will be available. Reports to be
given include President’s Report, Treasurer’s Report, and Secretary’s
Report from 2006 annual meeting. Refreshments will be bottled water. It
will be President Karl’s last meeting after serving on the board for 14
years in several capacities.
Wayne Hensler-Lake Pollution Case: The board decided not to respond
to his letter.
New Business: New officers: Johanna is in charge of the slate of
officers to be elected at the annual meeting.
Next Meeting: Annual meeting at Lower Rock Lake County Park at 10
a.m.
