ROCK LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Board meeting Lake Mills Municipal Building
Minutes July 19, 2006 7 p.m.
Present:
Karl Vonderhoe, Johanna Chworowsky, Patricia Cicero, Milt Strauss,
Margaret Krueger and Jim Colegrove.
Secretary’s Report
– Minutes of the June 21, 2006 submitted by Milt Strauss were approved.
Treasurer’s Report
– Treasurer Jim Colegrove distributed financial reports. The lake
management account was changed from a money market account to a regular
checking account to avoid a monthly fee. Watershed, city and membership
mailing lists will be merged in a different format next year to avoid
duplicate mailings. RLIA has 147 memberships which are more than the
previous three years.
Committee Reports
Publicity/PR Committee: Milt reported that good
comments were received on the RLIA “Paddling Down Main Street” float in
the Town and Country Days Parade, and the display table in Commons Park
generated interest. Results of the annual goose count revealed that
numbers were up this year, with the count at 263 last year and 362 this
year. Postcards will be sent to members, thanking them for joining RLIA
and inviting members to the annual meeting on Aug. 26. Board members
will staff a display on Aug. 19 at the Beach Bash where tee shirts and
membership brochures will be available.
Rock Lake Joint Committee and Adopt A Lake – No reports with Stan
Smoniewski absent.
Long Range Plan for Rock Lake – Patricia said water sampling will
be done during a rain event when run-off samples will be taken. The
phosphorous ban ordinance has not yet been passed by Jefferson County
because its authority to do this has not been established. The county’s
Parks Department will select a consultant in August to develop a plan
for the parking lot at the north end of lake.
Old Business
Bylaws: Milt will present a summary of the revised bylaw changes
to members at the annual meeting and the changes will also be mentioned
in the August newsletter to members.
Annual meeting: It will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 at 10
a.m. at Rock Lake Park and include displays, speakers, reports and
refreshments.
New Business
New officers: Karl, Johanna, Jim and Margy agreed to serve if
elected.
